Terra Help and Information

bullet1 Help!

bullet2 Output from Terra

bullet3 The log-file

Logfile=0 or 1 (on command line Logfile on/off)

if Logfile=1, Terra will write information on it's log file.

The log file will get the name logxxx.txt, where xxx is a number by choice of Terra. The log file is found in the directory Games.

  • The PV lines
    The PV (Principle Variation) line produced from Terra is following the Winboard standard:

    Depth
    Score
    time
    #Nodes
    PV line
    4
    -18
    9
    3835
    Nf6 d5 Ne7 Bb5 Nxe4 Nxe5
    4
    -3
    25
    9002
    Bb4+ Bd2 Nf6 d5 Bxd2+ Nbxd2
    4
    15
    30
    12108
    exd4 Nxd4 Bb4+ Bd2 Nf6 Bxb4 Nxb4
    5
    20
    45
    15301
    exd4 Nxd4 Bb4+ Bd2 Nf6 Bxb4 Nxb4

    In this example Terra changes it's mind 3 times during iteration 4 until the move exd4 is regarded as best. In iteration 5 Terra still thinks that exd4 is the best move and with the same main line.

    When Terra is within the book or Postbook the line will have a different look:

    Not applicable

    Each bookmove with a value inside parenthesis. The value is based on move statistics.
     2       62       3        5
    Book
    d2d4 (62) Bf1c4 (60) Bf1b5 (48)  c2c3 (54) Nb1c3 (50)

  • The search statistics
    After the search Terra will give statistics from the search:

    Search score=+70;
    This is the search score from the searched point of view.
    Mtrl=0;
    This is the material balance after the move is performed.
    Time=...;
    This is the time from go until Terra stopped to search
    EvalBreaks=...;
    Number of times Terra stopped during evaluate due to "impossible" situation.
    #Nodes=...;
    Number of nodes searched
    QS=...%;
    Number of Quiescence nodes in percentage of #Nodes
    NullMvs=...%%;
    Number of Nullmoves started in promille of #Nodes
    Evals=...%;
    Number of times the evaluate function is performed
    n/s=...;
    Number of nodes per second. The search speed.
    #Ext=...;
    Number of Extensions detected
    #Illegal=...;
    Number of Illegal moves found
    #Evasion=...;
    Number of Check evasions made
    1FH=...;
    Number of times the first move generated was the best, in percentage
    Hfound=... ...%
    Number of Hash entries found and the hit percentage
    HEfound=... ...%
    Number of EvalHash entries found and the hit percentage
    HPfound=... ...%
    Number of PawnHash entries found and the hit percentage

bullet3 The game-file

Logfile=0 or 1 (on command line Logfile on/off)

if Logfile=1, Terra will write information on not only it's log file but also the moves in PGN-format in a game file..

The game file will get the name gamexxx.pgn, where xxx is a number by choice of Terra (the same number as corresponding log file). The game file is found in the directory Games.
